About the Opportunity

A well-established security company is seeking an experienced Control Room Supervisor to oversee the efficient operation of their control room. This key role will involve supervising a team, managing the dispatching of guards, monitoring cameras, and ensuring a quick response to alarms and security breaches. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills and the ability to manage a high-pressure environment while ensuring that client expectations are consistently met.

Role Overview

As a Control Room Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the control room, including supervising a team of security personnel, overseeing alarm responses, and monitoring CCTV systems. You will ensure that all activities are conducted according to company procedures, regulatory standards, and client expectations. The role requires exceptional attention to detail, quick decision-making skills, and a strong understanding of security systems and protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage the control room operations to ensure efficient dispatching of guards and quick responses to alarms.
  • Monitor CCTV systems to detect suspicious activities and ensure the safety and security of clients.
  • Respond to security alarms, intruder alerts, and other emergencies in a timely and effective manner.
  • Oversee the dispatch and coordination of security personnel, ensuring they are stationed at appropriate locations and provide real-time support.
  • Manage the daily operational flow of the control room and ensure smooth communication between guards, supervisors, and clients.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior staff members to maintain a high level of performance and compliance with security procedures.
  • Ensure all incident reports are accurately documented and filed according to company policy.
  • Maintain records of all security-related incidents, including alarm activations and responses.
  • Perform regular checks on security systems to ensure they are in good working order.
  • Liaise with clients and provide updates as necessary, ensuring their concerns are addressed promptly.

    Required Skills and Qualifications

    • Grade 12 (Matric).
    • PSIRA certification (required).
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role within the security industry.
    • Full understanding of control room operations, including dispatching guards, camera monitoring, and intruder alarm systems.
    • Experience with CCTV systems and other security monitoring tools.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick decisions under pressure.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Ability to lead and supervise a team effectively.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

      Preferred Skills

      • Experience with advanced security systems and technology (such as alarm panels and access control systems).
      • Strong understanding of incident reporting and documentation procedures.
      • Ability to manage and de-escalate high-stress situations.
      • Previous experience in a control room supervisory role in a high-volume environment.
